Main Focus:

The Study caused on assessing the contribution of Commercial Banks by examining the performance of a sample number of 80  rural branches of commercial banks. Among others, the study examined the extent of coverage of rural population, saving mobilization by different asset groups of rural population and extension of rural credit for different production/income generating activities by different asset groups of rural population.

Utilization patterns of rural loans, adequacy of obtained institutional loans, repayment performance and problems connected to transacting with rural finance institutions were also identified with the help of a sample number of borrowers.
